Paul Bruce has been appointed to the position of head coach following a competitive selection process that considered a high number of applications from across Australia and overseas.
Paul has a wealth of experience in swim coaching and program development gained from his work in Canada and Australia, most recently through his involvment with Swimming Australia as Athlete and Coach Development Coordinator.
On behalf of the Arena Swim Club I welcome Paul to pool deck and wish him all the best in his role as head coach.

There has been some confusion regarding the membership fee for the 2009/2010 season.
Please be advised that the minimum membership fee for 2009/2010 for a competitive swimmer is $210 for Junior and some Aussie Surf categories for the 2009/10 year. A minimum membership fee of $260 applies for all other competitive swimming categories.
The $25 membership applies to parents and non-swimming members only.

Training space for swimmers competing in the State Junior & Open SC Competition has been reserved in the recreation pool whilst the competition pool is closed for repair.
Taper Training program for Juniors and National Pro Swimmers are attached.
Due to the restricted lane space, training for all non-competing swimmers will be cancelled from Saturday 27 June 2009 until the competition pool has re-opened.
Monthly training fees will be adjusted accordingly.

Swimming WA is hosting an Hour of Power development session for swimmers who achieved a certain standard in the JX program last year. The session will be run by former Olympians and will feature a short talk and a swim session. These JX Hours of Power will be run at different times through out the year for different achievers in the JX program.
Swimmers can check if they qualified for a JX Award here.
ARENA SC swimmers who have achieved in the JX 08/09 program should log onto the website – click on the JX SwimStars button and look under ‘NEWS’ to see if they are invited to attend the next ‘Hour of Power’ session. An enrolment form can be downloaded from the same site if you wish to accept the invitation.
Please check the link regularly as new JX Hours of Power for different age groups will be run throughout the year.

The Competition Pool (50m) will be closed for repair from Sat 27th June to Wed July 15th, opening on Thurs 16th July (all going to plan). I have placed a booking to access the lanes in the 25m pool for the time leading into State Open & Junior SC Champs (4-7/7/09). This space will be allocated for swimmers who have entered the State open & Junior SC Champs and will be prioritised accordingly.
