Important news regarding Swim Meets scheduled from the beginning of the new swim season from 1st July 2012. There is a new Meets Page link on the menu on the left hand side of the page.  Please update any bookmarks you may have in place for the meets page after the end of this season on 30th June 2012.

As the program expands, the coaching staff are really keen to provide more opportunities to the athletes by supporting them within the competitive stream. Previously, athletes have been place into recreational squads at the beginning of the new season to create room for the upcoming Juniors. This season, we are going to support those committing to regular training and racing at State level (at times it may be a squeeze) but we believe some athletes need that little bit extra time to reach their potential.

Attached are the new team lists and training times which will start Monday the 14/05/12. We understand this is short notice, so next week will act as a transitioning week. For those who can’t make their new training times, you are allowed to continue training at your previous training times. No exceptions from Monday the 21/05/12.

If your name is incorrectly spelt (there are many) or we have not put in your surname (there are also many) we do sincerely apologise.

As Swimming WA’s most celebrated awards ceremony, the event will be a great opportunity to give recognition to those who make a significant contribution to our sport.

Should club members wish to attend, please advise the President, Phil Wall 0423 374 452, by the 12th May 2012, and tables of 10 can be organised. Cost will be $45.00 per head.

Some fantastic swims from all age groups, including the very first competition swim from one of the youngest girls to the fantastic team rivalry of the older boys, who as a team were ALL so encouraging of each other throughout each of the days. Topped off with an absolute clean sweep of ALL age group relays resulting in some nice shiny bling for every member of the squad. The noise and encouragement coming from the Arena kids and supporters during the relays was inspiring and definitely race winning

A great weekend away with some good catch ups outside the pool after competition, which included a bbq on the Saturday night with way too much food and way too much easter egg chocolate thanks to the parents who picked up a couple of the Easter raffle prizes !!……. and Sunday’s highlight a late afternoon swim at the Geraldton foreshore and play at the new mini water park

Looking forward to doing it all again next year

Point score saw a 2nd placing which frustrates the coaching staff though they have been mentored that this is indeed junior swimming.  Any coach who spruces about points score at junior level is either young in the game or desperate for attention.  Juniors are about introduction to racing.  It’s about participation and building teams from there.  Build a base and the pointy end looks after itself.
