Young Guns Fire Up!

DEVOs Squad members (L – R) Kieran Coyne, BrodieLoller, Jack Wilson and Max Bremer (pictured here with Bobby Jovanovich) are all smiles as they receive their certificates for setting the new Boys 10/U 200m Medley Relay WA All Comers, All Time and Residential(Club) Records at the 2012 SWA Junior LC Championships in March – clocking a time of 2:29.20.

Records are made to be broken and Arena swimmers are certainly staking their claim on the record books! ASC President Phil Wall recently had the pleasure of presenting certificates to Arena Swim Club members who have broken records at meets since January 2012.

Proving there is no “i” in ‘TEAM’, Kacey O’Connell, Candice Wall, Gianna Leone and Danae Okulicz took out the Womens Open and Girls 18/U 200m Freestyle Relay convincingly in a WA Residential Relay Club record breaking time of 1:49.66 at the 2012 SWA Club Relay Day in January.

Individual excellence saw Bobby Jovanovich set the new WA All Time record for Mens Open 100m Backstroke with a time of 55.64 at the 2012 Energy Australia Swimming LC Championships in SA in March.

Jack Wilson set the new Boys 10yrs 200m freestyle record of 2:23.23 at the SWA Junior LC Championships in March, posting a similar SC record time for the same event in Geraldton in April (2:23.20);  proceeding to better that time in August, finally setting the current benchmark at 2:21.70 in September 2012. Jack also set the new WA All Comers, All Time and Residential records for Boys 11/U 800m SC Freestyle in a time of 10:14.33; in addition to setting the new Boys 10/U 200m SC Backstroke records at 2:38.41 at the Western Sprint Stroke Extravaganza and the new LC records for the same event with a time of 2:42.40 achieved in September.

Ben Lindsay demonstrated his versatility by claiming WA All Comers and Residential records in the Boys 18/U 50m Butterfly with a time of 24.35 and setting a new Residential record in the Boys 18/U 50m Breaststroke, clocking 28.78. Both times were achieved at the SWA SC Qualifying Meet in June.

8 year old pocket rocket Adriano Todoro claimed WA All Comers, All Time and Residential SC records when he registered a time of 1:19.14 in the Boys 8/U 100m Freestyle at the SWA North v South Meet held in September.

SWA joins with Arena Swim Club to offer congratulations to all these record breakers. Your Club is very proud of your efforts! All SWA Records can be viewed via the “Records” link on the SWA website.
