GET ON BOARD WITH BROOKSIE
|
A commanding presence at almost 2m tall, Neil Brooks – or “Brooksie” to his mates, is a giant in person and in the pool.
Predominantly a freestyler, the former Olympian understands the importance of team, winning 1980 Olympic gold for Australia in Moscow as anchor of the “Quietly Confident Quartet” Men’s 4 x 100m medley relay team and Silver at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games as part of the infamous “Mean Machine” Men’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay team.
An adaptable sportsman, Neil has also attained representative level in water polo, indoor cricket and Australian League football. Adaptable too in life, Neil is a Dad, a husband, an author, rock guitarist, sports presenter and an accomplished writer, having completed a University Journalism degree in Arkansas, USA.
A determination to reclaim his fitness in 2008 resulted in a successful return to the competitive swimming world stage. Neil now fuels his passion for competition through Triathlon – making personal and community gains, both here and in Indonesia, where he shares his passion and skills, mentoring local triathletes.
