Hi all,
Those involved in the junior program would have noticed a few changes of swimmers in different groups in the last weeks and this will continue as we want to settle the program towards a greater development for all swimmers.
Since I have been back last year we have been trialling the Arena Joondalup Learn to Swim programme Level 8 and 9 students swimming with Junior Squad members of the Arena Squad Programme. From this we will be permanently changing the structure of the Learn to Swim programme, moving all Level 8 and 9 swimmers into the Junior Squad programme from Term 2.
What this means for your child.
- From the beginning of Term 2 all Level 8 and 9 swimmers will make the transition to the Junior Squad programme.
- Training sessions offered will remain six days a week, giving you the option to select sessions that suit your busy family.
- Swimmers in Arena Junior Squads will work towards achieving defined competitive target goals.
- All swimmers who enrol in the Junior Squad programme will receive a squad swim cap (while stocks last).
- We are going to aim for the 11 year olds to move into the Junior Gold Squad as soon as possible with the mind of joining the Arena Swim Club and move towards its competitive pathway.
- For 12 year olds we are developing a further extension to the current junior program so that there is the pathway to the ASC competitive stream. This will be initiated into the program as the junior program develops.
- To complement all the above for the 12 year olds and older swimmers we currently have in the junior program the AST program aims to improve swimmers who do surf swimming, triathlon training, lifesaving skills or general fitness for football, netball and any other type of sport you are playing or just get fitter.
We understand that this programme is a change to the way your child swims, and it may take time to settle into the new structure. We are confident that this will build upon the successes the Arena swim club has made in becoming the premier swim club in WA for the past 2 seasons.
