A team comprising Luke Staffe, Maggie Emmett, Danae Okulicz and Candice Wall competed in the annual Rottnest Channel Swim. They finished 5th overall in the 56+ Age Group and were placed 2nd in the 56+ Mixed Category. A fantastic effort by one of the youngest teams in the swim with a combined age of 60 and a limited exposure to Open Water Swimming. Their official time was 5 hrs and 51 seconds.
Paddlers Marco Kapp, Trent Moss, Mikey Shaw & Chris Guard kept the team on track during the 19.7km journey.
Liam Logan competed in the “Mixed Duo Category – Under 55” with Heidi Butterworth and finished second in 5 hours 26 minutes. Coach Warren Paynter was the paddler for Liam & Heidi and definitely earned his drinks on Saturday afternoon/evening.
